About

Hi, my name is Mia. I’m a writer, artist, educator, RN, birth-worker—and most importantly, mama to three girls. Of all my titles, “Mother” is the one I honor most. It’s the most beautifully consuming role of my life, filled with chaos, triumph, and peace. It is my greatest teacher and the reason I am prepared to support you.

For a decade, motherhood and birth work have intertwined to shape my ability to hold space, educate, and holistically support families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and sometimes loss. Traditional birth work gave me my foundation, grounding me in the utmost respect for physiological birth, equitable care, and the long journey of postpartum. That foundation led me to pursue a master’s in nursing, merging traditional practice with clinical training to provide a full spectrum of tools for diverse needs.

I received trainings from midwife Summayah Franklin, completing her Doula training in 2016 and eventually her advanced immersion in traditional skills training. The latter emphasized a deeper learning and art to holding space, offer tactile support, integrate herbs and nourishment, and honor the ceremonial aspects of birth. Soon after, I began my residency as a labor and delivery nurse, where I deepened my knowledge of hospital protocols, supported high-risk pregnancies, attended vaginal and cesarean births, provided extensive lactation support, and advocated for patients’ and their families.

These experiences—spanning home and hospital, modern medicine and traditional care—have made me a grounded and adaptable birth worker. I know birth is spiritual, cultural, and deeply communal. Our bodies carry stories, traumas, and triumphs, and navigating these sacred times requires education, advocacy, and support.

I continue to work alongside midwives, nurses, lactation specialists, and birth workers to share knowledge, challenge systems, and carry forward the work of protecting, uplifting, and empowering families. I believe in reframing how we view pregnancy and birth: every client deserves informed care, safety, joy, and the active support of their partners and families.

Whether through postpartum nutrition, lactation guidance, navigating hospital procedures, or emotional support—I am here to walk this journey with you. Birth work is not just my profession; it’s woven itself into my everyday life. It is my honor to help families step into these transformative moments with clarity, connection, dignity, and peace.
